The Finding Family Balance workshop is designed to give children, ages 4-12, a safe place to express their experiences and feelings regarding divorce, while learning positive ways to deal with the complex emotions divorce can bring. This workshop will provide a supportive space for children to share therapeutic experiences through play, art, and movement with others who are also going through divorce.
The workshop will be comprised of three portions:
Play Therapy, led by Victoria Davidson, DSW, LCSW, RPT/S
Through age-appropriate play activities, Victoria will give children a safe place to express their thoughts and feelings regarding divorce and separation and will encourage them to share this information with their peers.
Expressive Art Experience, led by Brooke Montague, MA in Art Therapy and Marriage, Family and Child Counseling
Brooke will lead children in an art-making process that will focus on expressing the emotions that are often associated with divorce. Children will make a transition object and will explore coping skills that can assist in navigating the changes of their family dynamics.
Mindful Movement, led by Joan Clark, CCC-SLP
Joan will incorporate yoga poses, breathing activities, purposeful movement, and fun games as a way to help children understand and express their emotions. The focus will be on positive feelings and how to move towards those feelings during times of stress.
The workshop will be divided into three age groups: 4-6 year olds, 7-9 year olds, and 10-12 year olds. The cost is $85 per child. Additional sibling enrollment is $75.
