Welcome, friends, to the official relaunch of the Balance Studios blog!
These past months have found us busy thinking about new and creative ways to interact with you, and we've decided to make our mission one of curiosity. We want to create wonder while inspiring and encouraging our readers to gather, grow, and learn together.
Exactly how are we going to do that? Glad you asked! Each month, we’ll present ideas, interviews, and in-depth discussions on everything from fun ways to spend a rainy day to deeper topics like helping kids live in the moment. You'll hear from our founders, educators, and others in the extended Balance family. And the best part? You're invited! We can't wait to hear your thoughts, too!
This month, we interviewed some of our teachers, asking, “What’s your favorite game?” Here’s what they had to say . . .
"Being silly with my dog, Chaser!"
Lindsay teaches our Upcycle! Art class on Mondays from 5:15–6:15 p.m. & Wednesdays from 4:15–5:15 p.m. Both classes are for ages 4–8.
"My favorite game is The Game of LIFE. I loved it as a child and remember how fun it was to imagine all the possible paths of my future. I now enjoy playing with my girls. The last time we played, I ended up with 8 grandchildren and a beach house! Sounds like a good life to me!"
Denise teaches Homeschool Art & Geometry on Wednesdays from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. for ages 6–12.
"My favorite game is Boggle. I love the adrenaline created when scrambling to discover words! In my childhood, we played Boggle frequently. I now play it with my husband, also frequently (and more successfully!). I recommend the vintage version of the game: Boggle Hidden Word Game Vintage 1976. Boggle is also available in junior versions for preschool ages."
Alli teaches Upcycle! Art on Tuesdays from 4:15–5:15 p.m. for ages 8–12 & Drawing 101 on Thursdays from 5:15–6:15 for ages 8-12.
"As a child, I grew up with a pool in my backyard, and it was always my oasis on those hot summer days in Alabama. Cousins and friends would flock to my house for days at a time, where we might as well have turned into fish. We were always in the water. One of my favorite games we would play in the pool was Marco Polo. I loved gliding through the water, listening for a hint of a splash or a giggle as I tried to find another child to tag. Then it was my turn to be as quiet and clever as I could!"
Kaitlyn teaches Wise Warriors yoga on Mondays from 5:15–6:15 p.m. for ages 8–12 & on Wednesdays from 5:30–6:30 p.m. for ages 4–8.
